Karissa Schweizer, representing Nike Bowerman Track Club, set the American Indoor record by clocking 8:25.70 to win the women's 3,000 meters at the Boston University Indoor Last Chance meet. Schweizer elevated to the No. 5 all-time indoor performer, Shelby Houlihan (8:26.66) ascended to No. 7 and Colleen Quigley (8:28.71) improved to No. 10, as all three Bowerman athletes eclipsed the previous American Indoor record of 8:33.25 set in 2007 by Shalane Flanagan. Schweizer spoke after the meet with fellow Bowerman athlete Vanessa Fraser, who placed second in the 5,000 meters in 14:48.51, the No. 2 all-time American indoor performance.
